About Our Staff

Fully Qualified Staff

All managers hold a minimum of a level 3 in Childcare/ Education and over 50% of all other staff have a minimum of a level 2 qualification as required by OFSTED.

In addition a paediatric first aider, a safeguarding officer and a staff member who holds a level 2 food safety certificate, are on site when in session.

Yellow Birds aims to recruit a diverse staff team, with a range of differential skills to reflect the needs and diversity of the children we will care for.

This includes a dedicated Sports Coach that delivers programs at all of our settings. All staff are vetted in accordance with our company policy.

All staff are Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) checked.

All staff and volunteers are recruited following our Safer Recruitment Policy.

These measures ensure that not only do staff have the appropriate qualifications and work experience, but also that they are fun, enthusiastic and passionate about caring for children.

Yellow Birds Play Academy’s staff members are Fun, Enthusiastic and have ‘Bags of energy’. Each staff member plays a vital role in the running of the club; their personalities, expertise and passion to deliver the best childhood experiences means Yellow Birds is able to provide a leading childcare provision.

All staff members receive a full induction, regular training and ongoing supervision. Yellow Birds is also able to support carer progression through accredited training and as the company expands.

Regular tasks include playing games, creating arts & crafts and sports sessions, cleaning (health and safety) and continually risk assessing all play spaces. Most of our team member are also trained in Food Safety as we provide breakfast and a healthy tea time snack.

Sports Coach

  • Hours: 3pm – 6pm term time or 10am – 3:30pm during school holidays
  • Hourly rate: £5- £10 per hour
  • Job requirements: No qualifications required, but a keen interest in coaching sports is essential.
  • Location: Highams Park

School Holiday Club Manager

  • Hours: 6/8 hours between 7.30am – 6.30pm (7/8 hours shifts per day)
  • Hourly rate: £11.50 – £15.00 per hour
  • Job requirements: Managers must have a level 3 qualification and be available in the school holidays
  • Location: Chingford and Highams Park

Breakfast and Afterschool Club Manager

  • Hours: 7.30am- 9am and 2.45 – 6pm
  • Hourly rate: £11.50 – £15.00 per hour
  • Job requirements: Managers must have a level 3 qualification
  • Location: Chingford

Level 2/ 3 Qualified Childcare Practitioner

  • Hours: 3:00pm – 6:00pm Monday – Friday
    or Monday to Thursday
  • Hourly rate: £10.00- £11.00 per hour
  • Location: Chingford

School Leaver’s Apprenticeship (Government Initiative)

  • Hours: 2 to 5 mornings. 7.30am – 9am (the days are flexible) and 3pm – 6pm 2 to 5 afternoon (the days are flexible)
  • Hourly rate: from £5.00 for 17 years olds / from £7.00 for 18 – 20 year olds
  • Job requirements: the apprentice must work at least 16 hours in total and start training – Level 2 Children and Young People’s Workforce in their first 6 weeks of employment.
  • Location: Chingford and Highams Park

  • Hours: 7.30am- 9am and / or 2.45 – 6pm
  • Hourly rate: £5 – £9.50+ per hour
  • Job requirements: No qualification required. All staff receive a full induction, ongoing training and supervision. Minimum commitment 3 days per week.
  • Location: Chingford / Woodford Green

School Run Support Play Assistant

  • Hours: Start between 2.45pm and 3.30pm for 40 to 60 minutes
  • Hourly rate: £10.00 per day/ session
  • Job requirements: No qualification required. All staff receive a full induction, ongoing training and supervision. Minimum commitment 2 days per week.
